  • The Department of kayachikitsa stands as a cornerstone of Dr. Vasanth parikh ayurvedic medical college, playing a pivotal role in imparting the principles and practices of ayurvedic internal medicine as expounded in the classical texts. The term kayachikitsa literally means “treatment of the body” and encompasses a comprehensive, holistic approach to the treatment of diseases with generalised pathology by focussing on the balance of dosha, dhatu, and mala, along with the promotion of agni, ojas, and srotas integrity.
  • The department is committed to integrating time-tested Ayurvedic wisdom with contemporary medical insights, thereby equipping students with a strong theoretical foundation and sound clinical acumen. Through structured teaching, case-based learning, and hands-on clinical exposure, students gain in-depth knowledge of disease etiology (Nidana), pathogenesis (Samprapti), diagnosis, and individualized management (Chikitsa).
  • In addition to Academics , the department actively engages in clinical services, research activities, addressing both acute and chronic disorders with classical formulations, Ayurveda external therapies ,Panchakarma and lifestyle-based interventions. Special emphasis is laid on evidence-based practice, ethical patient care, and holistic healing, aiming to mould competent Ayurvedic physicians who can contribute meaningfully to community health.

AIM

  • The Primary aim of the Department of Kayachikitsa is to create competent, compassionate, and clinically proficient Ayurvedic practitioners who excel in the accurate diagnosis and effective management of a wide spectrum of diseases through a patient-centred and holistic approach. Emphasis is placed on developing a thorough understanding of classical Ayurvedic principles, including Nidana Panchaka, Samprapti, and Chikitsa Siddhanta, enabling students to deliver individualized and rational treatment plans.
  • Through rigorous academic training, structured clinical postings, and extensive hands-on exposure, the department strives to bridge theoretical knowledge with real-world practice. Students are trained to integrate classical formulations, External Ayurveda therapies, Panchakarma, Pathya-Apathya, and lifestyle modifications while addressing the curative aspects of healthcare.
  • The department also aims at managing the health challenges of generalized Pathology such as lifestyle disorders, chronic metabolic diseases, psychosomatic illnesses, Male Reproductive Diseases and Geriatric care.
