Shalyatantra is The Ancient Indian science of surgery, it holds a distinguished place in Ayurveda due to its rich tradition of surgical excellence. Rooted in classical texts like Sushruta Samhita. This branch emphasizes both fundamental principles of surgery and evolving surgical advancements.

Shalyatantra Dept. As an Academic expertise helps to create future of BAMS students. The Undergraduate Curriculum of Shalya Tantra is designed to provide students with a thorough knowledge of surgical interventions, integrating traditional Ayurvedic techniques with present surgical practices. This structured syllabus ensures that students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to diagnose and manage various surgical conditions effectively.

The syllabus encompasses a wide range of topics, including surgical anatomy, pathology, diagnostic methods, pre and post operative care, and surgical interventions for conditions such as anorectal disorders, abdominal surgeries, orthopedic procedures, and plastic surgery etc. Additionally, emphasis is placed on parasurgicals like Agnikarma, ksharakarma, Raktamokshana, Leech Therapy in different conditionsand Ayurvedic pharmacology relevant to surgical practice.

In the third professional year, Shalya Tantra plays a pivotal role in shaping a student’s clinical and surgical Knowledge. The curriculum ensures that future Ayurvedic surgeons are well-equipped to uphold the legacy of Shalya Tantra.
